Mary Martin began painting in oils while living in ranchingMary Martin Horse communities in California and the Southwest.  Her artistic ability flows from the heart.

Recognizing that her talent is a gift from God she has cultivated this in-born talent by her relentless drive to recreate the beauty she sees and feels all around her.  Be it majestic wildlife or a breathtaking Arizona landscape, all reflect her love and admiration for animals and the outdoors.

Mary frequently walks in the desert in the early morning to obtain ideas for her Landscapelandscapes and when a subject is found she will paint on location.  Mornings are her most fruitful time as she loves the way the long shadows dramatically accentuate the landscape.

Well known over the southwest, Mary now resides in scenic Southern Arizona.  Her land is home to over 200 quail, so not surprisingly, the bustling creatures are often sources ofPainting inspiration for her.  Painting a quail from life can be challenging:  “They won’t pose for me, no matter  how much I try to bribe them,”  Mary chuckles.  Choosing the right subject is avery natural internal process for Mary,  “When the scene is right you just know it.”

She is a member of Oil Painters of America and the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society

Mary’s work is now showing at Galleria Tubac in Tubac, AZ and Belleza Gallery in Bisbee, AZ
